Organization/Rank Structure
The financial and logistical aspects of the Centertown Fire Department are overseen by an elected Board of Directors which meet the first Tuesday of each month.
Operational control of the Department is executed by sworn personnel, using the following rank structure:
OFFICERS
Chief | Helmet: White with gold front shield Insignia: Five Gold Bugles or Stars |
Deputy Chief | Helmet: White with gold front shield Insignia: Four Gold Bugles or Stars |
Captain | Helmet: Black with white front shield Insignia: Two Gold Bugles or Bars |
Lieutenant | Helmet: Black with white front shield Insignia: One Gold Bugle or Bar |
FIREFIGHTERS
Engineer Responsible for driving & operating fire apparatus | Helmet: Black with black front shield Insignia: Silver Engineer's Scramble |
Senior Firefighter Title given to the single most senior firefighter | Helmet: Black with Black front shield Insignia: Gold Firefighter's Scramble |
Firefighter Title earned upon successful completion of basic training & probationary period | Helmet: Black with Black front shield Insignia: Silver Firefighter's Scramble |
Probationary Firefighter Entry-level rank, served at the discretion of the Chief. | Helmet: Black Insignia: None |
Command Staff
Operations are overseen by the fire department's officers, who serve as field commanders and may additionally hold special additional responsbilities within the department.
